A Meditation on Painting Christmas Cards
|
| |
Christmas comes again,
time for card painting.
What shall I paint?
Light out of darkness,
joy that a child is born?
A star, I shall paint a star. |
|
|
A star that is an invitation,
an invitation to look up,
to follow its light,
to delight in the journey.
|
A star that announces the Birth,
the Birth of a child,
a child who is Love Incarnate,
a child born long ago,
who wills to be with us,
O, welcome, Child;
come, love in us. |
|
|
“Look up”, said the star.
“I see you shining” I said, “shine on my painting”.
“I shine” said the star.
“I’ve painted you shining, shining, through bare branches”
“I shine” said the star.
“You shine in the darkness, you tell us of the birth of Light, Light that dwells within us”
“I shine” said the star.
“O welcome Child, who is Light and Love,
Dwell within us this Christmastide,
Love in us”. |
