ADVENT

A time for ’visitation’ and coming together ~

Getting together to celebrate and share gifts,
Visiting friends and family,
Looking out for those who are alone and unloved, ~
are at the heart of the Christmas Message
of Peace and Goodwill to all ~

Sometimes we find it hard to choose where to go,
how to celebrate, what to share.
Whatever our choices, keep in mind ~

“THE LORD WILL BE PEACE”

Micah Ch 5 v 4

However we prepare to celebrate Christmas,
whatever our choices lead us to …
may PEACE reign in our hearts ~

We need to be aware of the conflicts within us and around us
in order to invite the

PRINCE OF PEACE

to come and be a reality in our lives ~

Christmas can expose to us, only too clearly,
the need for peace and reconciliation in our families,
in our communities, in our world.
Let us be ready to be

BRINGERS OF PEACE

The writer to the Hebrews says that, like Christ, we can say:

HERE I AM, GOD, I COME TO DO YOUR WILL

Hebrews Ch 10 v 7

Luke tells us that:

“Mary set out, went into Zechariah’s house, greeted Elizabeth. Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting. The child leapt in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit …”

Luke Ch 1 v 39

Look what can happen when friends and family put

LOVE INTO ACTION:

A decision to meet, a warm greeting, a listening to the other,
a joy and celebration of each other’s presence.

Why should we be honoured with a visit from God?
Not just this Christmas, not a visit,
but God’s promise to be with us always, to the end of time.

As we approach the Birthday of Jesus Christ

let us pray:

We ask you, Holy God,
to help us to be, like Mary, your chosen ones,
ready to do your will,
to bring to others the Good News of your LOVE, and to live this Christmas Season
with joy and thanksgiving
and IN PEACE ~
We ask this in the name of Jesus,
who promised us peace the world cannot give.
Amen.
